SoundCloud has introduced a new integration with the artificial intelligence platform ElevenLabs, allowing creators to publish AI-generated music directly to the streaming service. This update removes the need for users to manually download and re-upload their audio files.
Partnership Details and Subscriber Benefits
The collaboration includes a promotional offer for SoundCloud Artist Pro subscribers, who are now eligible for three months of free access to ElevenLabs’ ElevenMusic Pro service. This initiative aims to provide artists with tools to experiment with generative AI technology.
To maintain transparency regarding the use of AI, SoundCloud has implemented a labeling system. Any tracks published directly from ElevenLabs to the platform will be clearly marked to indicate their AI origins.
Comparison with Previous Integrations
This new feature differs from SoundCloud’s previous partnership with the AI platform Moises. While the ElevenLabs integration focuses on direct publishing, the Moises partnership offers a more comprehensive workflow. That integration allows users to import tracks from SoundCloud into Moises for stem separation and remixing before republishing the results back to the streaming platform.
SoundCloud’s Stance on AI
SoundCloud has distinguished itself from other streaming services by taking a more open approach to AI-generated content. While the company maintains policies against impersonation and encourages users under European Union regulations to label tracks as “AI-generated or manipulated,” it has actively sought partnerships with various generative AI music developers.
Unlike some of its competitors, SoundCloud has not issued public statements regarding the mass removal of AI-generated spam or efforts to demonetize such content on its platform.
