A new wearable device called the Aina Ring has been announced, designed to serve as a remote control for AI agents. By providing a small display and a joystick-like button, the ring allows users to accept or reject AI-driven actions without the need to constantly check their smartphones.

Streamlining AI Interactions

According to the company, relying on a phone to manage frequent notifications from AI agents creates a workflow bottleneck. The Aina Ring aims to solve this by keeping the phone in the user’s pocket while providing a physical interface to interact with digital assistants. The device, made of titanium, connects to iPhones and Macs to provide what the company calls “Aina Cues.”

These cues are powered by a Context Aware Operating System that learns from personal data, including calendar entries, emails, and location. For example, if a user typically takes an Uber to work at a specific time, the ring will suggest the ride, allowing the user to confirm the action with a flick of the joystick. Users can also create custom cues using natural language or connect third-party AI agents, such as Muse or Instinct, to handle tasks through virtual browsers.

Features and Functionality

The ring includes a small display to provide confirmation that an action has been successfully completed. “Agents today don’t respond immediately,” said founder Shankar. “For us to trust these devices—that what I said actually just happened—you need display confirmation.”

Beyond managing AI cues, the device features Aina Voice, which allows users to speak to AI agents or take notes by pressing the center button. It also includes a tiny speaker for phone calls, enabling users to initiate a call via voice command and listen by holding their hand to their ear. Additionally, the ring functions as a context-aware remote; if the system detects the user is on a Zoom call or watching television, it automatically offers relevant controls for those specific activities.

Development and Availability

The Aina Ring follows the company’s 15-month period in stealth mode and the debut of experimental products at CES 2026 under the name Project Mirage. One of those prototypes, known as Dune, served as the precursor to the ring by offering context-aware buttons for desktop computers. Shankar, who previously served as the vice president of hardware at the health-tracking ring company Ultrahuman, noted that the team considered other form factors like smart glasses and pendants before settling on the ring as the most convenient interface.

Preorders for the Aina Ring are currently open. The device is priced at $399 for a limited time, with the cost set to increase to $499 when it begins shipping in January 2027. Unlike other recent hardware attempts that aimed to replace the smartphone, Shankar emphasized that the Aina Ring is intended to complement existing devices rather than replace them, noting that phones are “too perfect” for many tasks.
