Meghan Markle to Co-Host Junior MasterChef Australia

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, has been confirmed as a co-host for the 2027 season of Junior MasterChef Australia. Network 10 announced that she will join TV presenter and chef Poh Ling Yeow as a special guest on the cooking competition.

Return to the MasterChef Kitchen

Expressing her excitement about the upcoming series, Meghan stated that she could not wait to join the production team. “I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun,” she said in an official statement.

Meghan previously featured as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia last year. According to Paramount ANZ, that episode achieved the highest Sunday audience numbers for the franchise since 2023. The filming took place during a four-day visit to Australia with Prince Harry in April, where her appearance on set was kept secret until after production wrapped. She received no financial compensation for her initial guest spot, and Network 10 did not comment when asked by BBC News whether she would be paid for her new co-hosting role.

Controversies and Media Projects

The announcement comes at a time of increased public attention surrounding her father, Thomas Markle, who faces allegations of child sexual abuse. Markle has vehemently rejected the claims, describing them as deliberate fabrications aimed at destroying his character. BBC News understands that Meghan cut off communication with her father last year after informing him that she and law enforcement authorities were aware of the allegations.

The couple announced in August that they plan to relocate back to the United Kingdom after stepping down as working royals in early 2020 and establishing residence in California. Following their departure from royal duties, they pursued several high-profile entertainment deals, including a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey alongside agreements with streaming giants Netflix and Spotify.

Meghan’s lifestyle and cooking series, With Love, Meghan, aired for two seasons plus a holiday special on Netflix but struggled to attract high viewership. Her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which features a line of food products, ended its partnership with the platform in March. Trademark filings for her brand were registered across multiple product lines in Australia last year, including table linen and kitchenware items.
