Apple May Add Chatbots to HomeView Smart Hub

Apple may be preparing to integrate conversational artificial intelligence into its smart home ecosystem, according to code discovered in an iOS 27.3 beta release reported by The Verge. The software update includes a system flag for a new “Conversational Apps” category, indicating potential support for AI chatbots on the HomeView hub.

New Audio Routing and Security Controls

While Apple has not specified which applications will fall under the new classification, services such as ChatGPT and Claude could potentially be supported on HomeView. According to details shared on X by user pdfu and reported by The Verge, the beta update introduces bidirectional audio routing and session management features, though the user noted the capability is not yet fully functional.

In addition to chatbot integration, the beta code reveals enhanced anti-spoofing protection that requires users to authenticate their identity with an iPhone after three failed access attempts. The update also introduces a progressive lockout system with increasing delay times, starting at one hour for a second lockout and rising to eight hours by the fourth. Apple has not officially confirmed either feature or announced a release date.
