Fantasy Premier League expert FPL Heisenberg, writing for BBC Sport, has shared expert advice on the biggest dilemmas facing managers ahead of gameweek nine. The latest guidance covers whether to invest in Bournemouth players, captaincy choices, and how to handle injuries and squad rotation.

Is it time to invest in Bournemouth?

FPL Heisenberg believes managers should consider bringing in Bournemouth assets, noting that a home fixture against Leeds in gameweek nine kicks off an appealing run of upcoming matches. Marcus Tavernier (£6.4m) is highlighted as the standout midfield choice due to his strong goal threat and creativity, while Evanilson (£6.2m) offers a budget-friendly route into the attack. Antonio Silva (£5.0m) is recommended as a defensive option, though tripling up on Cherries players is discouraged.

Evaluating Jackson and Haaland

Nicolas Jackson (£6.7m) has emerged as an interesting option following four goals in his past four Premier League matches and an upcoming home fixture against Fulham. However, minutes remain a concern given the risk of early substitutions and competition from returning teammate Brian Madjo (£5.4m). Meanwhile, Erling Haaland (£15.7m) remains the undisputed primary captaincy choice despite Manchester City’s first defeat of the season.

Managing Joao Pedro, Cherki, and Arsenal Assets

Joao Pedro (£7.8m) is recommended as an immediate sale following comments from Xabi Alonso ruling the Chelsea forward out for weeks, with mid-priced alternatives like Jackson, Evanilson, Dominic Calvert Lewin (£6.1m), Thierno Barry (£5.6m), or Alexander Isak (£9.1m) available. Rayan Cherki (£8.0m) is also targeted for removal due to inconsistent playing time, with cheaper alternatives like Tavernier freeing up funds.

Finally, managers are advised to hold onto existing Arsenal defensive players like David Raya (£6.2m) and Riccardo Calafiori (£6.0m) despite an upcoming away match against Liverpool, rather than spending transfers to chase fixtures. While buying new Arsenal defenders is not a priority this week, holding them makes sense given their long-term value and subsequent opponents.
