Alexander Brothers Sentenced to 30 Years for Sex Trafficking

Three brothers, including two wealthy real-estate moguls, were sentenced to 30 years each in prison on Tuesday for drugging and raping dozens of women over the course of decades. Tal Alexander, 40, along with twins Oren and Alon Alexander, 39, were previously found guilty in March of exploiting their wealth and social status to lure women to parties and luxury homes where they carried out the sexual assaults.

Victim Impact Statements in Court

During the court hearing in New York on Tuesday morning, 12 victims delivered statements, including one woman who did not testify during the trial. The victims described the severe psychological trauma they suffered following the rapes and expressed a desire for the shame they had carried to shift onto the defendants, with many urging the judge to hand down life sentences.

Maya Miller told the court that a rape by Tal Alexander in 2014 stripped away her sense of safety, stating she carried a quiet funeral within herself for the person she might have become. Another victim, speaking under the pseudonym Isa Brooks, recounted being raped by Tal and Alon Alexander at the age of 16 and losing the ability to trust herself, noting she had no idea of the danger until it was too late. An additional woman testified that Tal Alexander threatened her when she planned to come forward, telling her he knew where her sister worked.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Espinosa argued that the defendants deserved the maximum punishment because the facts painted a devastating picture of individuals who honed methods of luring women with promises of luxury and remained completely unmoved by the suffering they left behind. Throughout the statements, the brothers displayed minimal emotion, staring straight ahead or conferring with their lawyers.

Defense Arguments and Sentencing

Attorneys for the brothers requested 15-year sentences, emphasizing that their clients were devoted fathers whose families would suffer from their absence. All three men addressed the court to maintain their innocence, with Tal Alexander acknowledging a work-hard, play-hard mentality and stating he recognized how his behavior hurt feelings, though Judge Valerie Caproni criticized them for refusing to admit guilt.

Judge Caproni stated that conduct by the brothers was monstrous and wreaked havoc on lives, questioning how someone who never acknowledged wrongdoing could be rehabilitated. She sentenced each brother to 30 years in prison for specific crimes, alongside concurrent 20-year sentences for additional offenses.

The five-week trial featured testimony from 11 women, several of whom were minors during the assaults, detailing how the brothers provided gifts and flew them to locations such as Aspen and the Bahamas before drugging and raping them. Prosecutors stated the abusive pattern began in high school, with the trial focusing on crimes from 2008 onward involving drugged drinks, physical restraint, and ignored pleas to stop.

Defense lawyers maintained that the sexual encounters were consensual and that the men were merely womanisers rather than abusers. Tal and Oren Alexander built fortunes selling luxury properties in New York and Miami for real estate firm Douglas Elliman—serving clients like Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West—before launching their own firm called Official in 2022, while Alon worked for the family’s private security firm, Kent Security, as the brothers stared straight ahead during the final delivery of their sentences.
