Mozilla is updating Smart Window, its artificial intelligence-powered browsing experience, with new capabilities designed to help users complete online forms and track website updates.
AI-Powered Form Filling
The new feature allows the browser to assist users in completing online forms by drawing information from their open tabs. According to Mozilla, Smart Window can pull data from an online portfolio or a LinkedIn profile to automatically paste a user’s work history into a job application.
Users can access this capability by clicking into a form containing a minimum of four text fields. A prompt offering the option to fill from sources will appear, displaying all the tabs Firefox intends to utilize. Users have the ability to select or deselect specific tabs, and the browser will subsequently generate suggestions derived from the information found within those pages.
While the tool currently supports text fields on web forms, Mozilla stated that it is actively developing support for PDFs and dropdown menus. The company also noted that data extracted from source pages is transmitted to Google’s Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite, which serves as the underlying AI model generating the text suggestions.
Webpage Monitoring and Availability
In addition to form assistance, users can now instruct Firefox’s Smart Window to monitor specific webpages for events such as sales, new job listings, and other changes. This task is initiated by typing a command into the Smart Window chat, describing the target criteria, and designating the webpages to observe.
Firefox performs checks for updates on either a daily or weekly schedule, operating exclusively while the browser remains open. Upon detecting a relevant change, the browser delivers a notification through the toolbar’s Tasks button or directly to the desktop if notifications are enabled.
To manage resources, Firefox suspends monitoring if no changes are detected after 60 days, and terminates the task entirely after 90 days. Both new features are currently rolling out to the desktop Smart Window beta in the United States and Canada, with wider international availability scheduled for the coming months.
