The Ikea Varmblixt smart lamp is currently available at a discount of $20, bringing its price down to $79.99 through November 11th at Ikea.
Design and Lighting Features
The donut-shaped lamp features a playful design and versatility. It can sit on a table or be mounted on a wall by hanging from a drilled-in screw. Producing just 180 lumens, the lamp is not exceptionally bright, making it better suited for use as a bedside light or for ambient mood lighting rather than illuminating an entire room.
This newer model allows users to cycle through 12 preset colors, including shades of pink, blue, green, and white, unlike the predecessor which only featured an orange hue. An included wireless remote lets users switch colors, adjust brightness, and power the device on or off without requiring a separate app or hub, though a physical power button is also located on the lamp itself. Additionally, the remote can control other compatible Ikea lights.
Smart Home Integration
For integration into a connected home network, the Varmblixt supports Matter. This compatibility enables the lamp to work with major smart home platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. Voice control, access to hundreds of additional colors, scheduling routines for sleep or wake-up, and connections with motion sensors or other smart lights are all supported through these platforms.
These advanced features can also be unlocked using Ikea’s Dirigera hub. The hub provides a feature via its Home Smart app that automatically adjusts the shade of white throughout the day to mimic natural daylight.
