Google Fixes Photos Bug That Hid Edited Images

Google has resolved a software bug in Google Photos that prevented Android users from accessing edited pictures through other applications. The issue caused modified images to disappear from the file picker when users attempted to send or post them in messaging and social media platforms.

Bug Resolved After Summer Glitch

The problem originally emerged over the summer, affecting individuals who chose to overwrite original photos with their edited versions. While saving edited images as separate copies served as a temporary workaround, it forced users who preferred keeping only modified files to store duplicate images on their devices.

According to reports from 9to5Google and APK Mirror founder Artem Russakovskii, Google has now corrected the issue, allowing edited photos to appear normally in image selection menus across other applications.

The fix follows another recent glitch in Google Photos identified last month, where bottom navigation controls—including the Share, Edit, Add to, and Trash buttons—became unresponsive on certain devices after an edit was finished. As reported by Android Authority, Google acknowledged that interface error and deployed a resolution within about a day.
