Why Amazon’s Kindle Click Is the Best New E-Reader Accessory

Amazon has introduced the Kindle Click, the company’s first Bluetooth page-turning remote designed to pair with its latest generations of e-readers from 2024 and 2026. While third-party page-turning remotes have been available for some time, their cumbersome screen-blocking clips and multi-component designs often complicate the reading experience. WIRED reports that this single, affordable device significantly improves upon aftermarket options while offering convenient controls.

Features and Design of the Kindle Click

The Kindle Click is a lightweight handheld remote utilizing Bluetooth connectivity to let users turn pages, scroll vertically, and alter screen brightness. Two large front buttons handle page turns, while two smaller buttons located on the right ridge manage brightness levels, an unexpected bonus for an inexpensive gadget. The device features USB-C charging and includes a wrist strap to prevent accidental drops.

Some users might initially find the scrolling layout slightly unintuitive, as the upper button moves the user down the page while the lower button moves back up. Beyond convenience, the page turner serves as a useful accessibility tool for individuals who cannot comfortably hold an e-reader and tap the screen continuously. It works especially well when paired with a separate Kindle holder or repurposed tablet stand.

Comparing Amazon’s Page-Turning Options

The Click offers a major upgrade over typical aftermarket alternatives that require a separate screen clip blocking text and independent charging for multiple parts. While the Kindle Click does not specify exact battery metrics beyond lasting for weeks, its larger body suggests a more substantial battery capacity than cheap third-party competitors.

The Click is priced at nearly half the cost of the new $80 Kindle page-turn cover. However, that case requires one of the newest Kindle Signature Editions starting at $250, bringing the total to $330. In contrast, the Kindle Click is compatible with any Kindle released from 2024 onward, though readers with older models will still need an upgrade. Shipping times are currently stretching to a few weeks following its launch last week.
