Ubisoft Has No Other Assassin’s Creed Remakes in Development

Ubisoft provided fans with a series of franchise updates on Thursday, announcing that it currently has no additional remakes in development despite the success of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

No Immediate Plans for More Remakes

The company addressed the topic in a blog post, stating that it wants to remain transparent about its current production slate. “One thing we want to be transparent about today is that we currently have no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development,” the company wrote, as reported by Engadget. Instead, internal development teams are concentrating on the next generation of titles, including unannounced projects with fresh settings and narratives.

Ubisoft explained that updating older titles requires a tremendous amount of effort, pointing out that rebuilding legacy systems, integrating modern features, and blending innovation with nostalgia proved to be a massive undertaking during the creation of Black Flag Resynced. However, the publisher left the door open to revisiting past titles again in the future.

Recent Patches and Upcoming Releases

Earlier in the week, the final major update for Black Flag Resynced launched, introducing both a New Game+ mode and an elevated difficulty setting. Additionally, Ubisoft announced that a New Game+ option will arrive for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on November 5, with further announcements regarding current-generation console updates expected shortly.

Regarding future installments, the multiplayer project Codename Invictus is shifting toward an exciting direction that incorporates more traditional series elements following recent playtest feedback. Meanwhile, development on Codename Hexe, the upcoming mainline entry, is moving forward steadily, with a major update about this darker installment slated for 2027.

Production on the live-action Netflix series based on the franchise is nearly complete, though a premiere date remains unannounced. Furthermore, the franchise will mark its 20th anniversary in 2027 with a full year featuring reveals, updates, rewards, and community celebrations.
