Arrowmax is introducing a new smart electric screwdriver called the Arrowspace S1, which utilizes an integrated camera and artificial intelligence to determine the exact type and size of bit needed for a specific screw. The technology aims to remove the guesswork from DIY projects and prevent stripped screws caused by using incorrect tool sizes.

Crowdfunding and Pricing Details

The company is launching the Arrowspace S1 through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, following several previously successful crowdfunded products. Customers can preorder the standalone screwdriver for approximately $79, while a bundle that includes the S1 smart bit case costs around $129. Retail pricing will increase once the product launches, and the S1 is currently scheduled to ship no earlier than April 2027.

Camera and AI Identification System

The base of the screwdriver houses a small camera equipped with an LED light to photograph screw heads. A precision contact probe sits next to the camera, extending to rest against the screw surface to maintain the ideal focus distance for the AI model.

After the AI analyzes the photograph, a connected mobile app displays the required bit type and size. The screwdriver then automatically adjusts to a safe torque setting based on the identified fastener to minimize the risk of damage. Users who opt for the S1 Smart Case receive 52 steel bits accompanied by individual LEDs that illuminate to indicate the correct choice.

Battery and Display Specifications

The Arrowspace S1 is powered by a 600mAh rechargeable battery that provides up to 90 minutes of runtime or enough power to handle over 900 screws. Operating time changes if users disable the automatic torque adjustments and manually raise the power settings. An integrated OLED screen displays the remaining battery life, current torque configuration, and rotation direction.
