Dolly Parton Manager Drops Lawsuit Against Her Nephew

The manager representing the estate of the late country music star Dolly Parton has dropped a lawsuit against her nephew. The civil case was initiated by the company managing Parton’s business interests shortly after her death.

Lawsuit Details and Allegations

The legal action was filed by She’s Alive, the company managed by Parton’s longtime representative Danny Nozell, less than a month after Parton passed away from cancer at the age of 80 in August. Court filings included accusations of threats, intimidation, and coercion directed at Bryan Seaver, who is the son of Parton’s sister Cassie and previously worked as the singer’s head of security for two decades through his company, Squadron Augmented Protection Services (SAPS). A judge granted a temporary restraining order following the filing.

Court documents alleged that Seaver engaged in an escalating campaign of threats after demanding payment from the estate. The filings stated that Seaver threatened to damage Parton’s brand and business interests if his demands were unmet, and accused him of using his background as a military contractor to intimidate employees.

Response and Resolution

Seaver denied all allegations made against him. In a statement provided to BBC US partner CBS News by his legal representation, Seaver expressed that he was glad to resolve the situation. His attorneys stated that he was “grateful to put this misunderstanding behind him so that the family can grieve peacefully”.

Previously, Seaver acknowledged his background as a military contractor in a statement published by TMZ, maintaining that his communication involved speaking frankly in private with someone he considered a friend rather than threatening the estate. Weeks prior to the legal conflict, both Seaver and his security firm had been dismissed by She’s Alive following Seaver’s public confirmation of Parton’s death in August.
