Anker’s latest Soundcore Space 2 Pro headphones rival major brands like Apple, Bose, and Sony at a much lower price point of $200. As reported by Engadget, these flagship headphones are the first to feature Anker’s new Thus audio chip, making notable claims regarding upgraded voice clarity and overall performance.
Design and Audio Performance
Engadget noted that the Space 2 Pro boasts a premium aesthetic that punches above its $200 price tag, particularly in the grey colorway. The build features metal sliders, soft leather wrapping on the headband and ear pads, and subtle metallic accents. Pitted against midrange competition in terms of price, the headphones stand out with superior design and audio performance, utilizing 35mm drivers made from two different materials to maximize high-end clarity and deep bass.
Reviewing tracks such as Mastodon’s “Marrow Deep” and Zach Bryan’s “Lies,” Engadget highlighted that instruments and vocals cut through the mix clearly without losing detail. Furthermore, the Space 2 Pro currently holds the Guinness World Record for the “clearest over-ear headphones for calls.” Powered by the Thus chip and a six-microphone array, the headphones deliver exceptional voice performance while blocking background noise without making the user sound robotic or digitized.
Battery life reached 31 hours during testing with active noise cancellation (ANC) enabled almost exclusively, exceeding Anker’s 30-hour promise with ANC on, while turning it off yields up to 60 hours.
Drawbacks and Additional Features
Not all features met expectations during testing. The Hear ID 5.0 hearing test, spatial audio settings, and curated presets offered no meaningful improvement over the stock tuning, leaving the reviewer longing for the out-of-the-box sound. Additionally, while the Adaptive ANC 3.0 setup performs above average in lowering human voices and blocking keyboard clicks, general noise cancellation struggled against constant sources like white noise machines and loud fans.
Engadget also examined the “AI Note-Taker” feature listed as “TBD” on the spec sheet, noting potential awkwardness of wearing over-ear headphones in meetings and future subscription costs after a limited two-year free trial.
The Space 2 Pro proves that Anker can compete with top-tier audio brands by delivering solid sound quality, a comfortable fit, accurate battery life claims, and unmatched call clarity for significantly less money than $400-plus flagship competitors.
