Motorola is set to officially unveil its new Signature 27 smartphone this Thursday, a high-end device priced at $1,600. First teased during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in September, the phone aims to compete in the ultra-premium market against devices like the 512GB Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Advanced Camera and Battery Technology
The Signature 27 features a robust camera array, headlined by a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom and a 100x Super Zoom Pro capability. The system also includes a 50-megapixel wide camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 50-megapixel front-facing camera. Additionally, Motorola has integrated an Event-Based Vision action sensor designed to assist in capturing fast-moving subjects.
The device is equipped with a 7,000-mAh silicon carbon battery, a technology that allows for higher capacity in a smaller physical footprint. Notably, the phone supports 90-watt wired charging, which exceeds the 60-watt speeds currently found on the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Display, Performance, and Audio
The smartphone features a 6.8-inch display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It boasts a peak brightness of 12,000 nits, significantly higher than the 2,000- to 3,000-nit levels commonly found in recent flagship devices. Under the hood, the Signature 27 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, which is optimized for high-graphics gaming, 8K video recording, 4K video at 60 frames per second, and on-device artificial intelligence tasks.
For audio, Motorola partnered with Bang and Olufsen to tune the device for music and movie playback. The phone also includes software features from Android 17, such as the Rambler voice transcription tool, which uses AI to remove filler words, and the Create My Widget feature for Gemini-generated home screen widgets. Users will also have access to American Sign Language support for texting and Motorola’s proprietary Qira AI assistant, which is designed to function across Lenovo products.
Design and Availability
Motorola has committed to providing seven years of software and security updates for the device. It will be available in two Pantone colors: coal smoke, which features a tactical weave finish, and capulet olive, which utilizes a textile-inspired finish. Both models come with 12GB of memory and 512GB of storage.
Preorders for the Signature 27 begin in the United States on November 19, with the device scheduled for open sale starting November 26.
