Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has provided an update on search and rescue operations following a Russian strike on a school in Komyshuvakha, located within the Zaporizhzhia region, on Monday. The announcement follows the president’s return from meetings in Germany over the preceding two days.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts
Authorities have confirmed 40 fatalities resulting from the bombardment. Additionally, officials harbor concerns that more than 30 individuals might remain trapped underneath the debris.
International Response
Zelenskyy criticized the global reaction to the bombardment, describing the military action as an insane attack. He warned that the incident matches countless other war crimes perpetrated against Ukraine, emphasizing the necessity of a decisive international reaction.
“Unfortunately, there has been very little reaction from the world to this insane attack. But it, like thousands upon thousands of other war crimes Russia has committed against Ukraine and Ukrainians, demands a strong response. Evil always goes further if it is left unanswered,” Zelenskyy stated.
