Uncalled House and Senate Races Await Final Vote Counts

Democrats are positioned to hold a strong majority in the upcoming Congress, though the final figures remain undetermined as several key races stay outstanding.

Unresolved Races Across the Country

A few legislative contests in California feature two candidates from the same political party, guaranteeing which party will secure the seat despite the individual winner remaining unclear. Other races across the nation are currently too close to call or lack a sufficient number of counted ballots to determine a victor. The prolonged vote tallying process in numerous locations is considered entirely normal and expected.

Senate Contests Still Outstanding

In the U.S. Senate, two specific races remain uncalled in Alaska and Mississippi. Alaska employs a ranked-choice voting system, and since no candidate in the four-person race secured a 50% majority during the initial count, the election may advance to a subsequent round of counting later in the month. Meanwhile, Mississippi utilizes a traditional electoral system, but a substantial volume of provisional ballots, referred to locally as affidavit ballots, is extending the counting duration. Fewer than 2,000 votes currently separate the top two candidates in the Mississippi contest.
