Tesla to End Cybertruck Production in Mid-2027

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on social media that the automaker will end production of the Cybertruck in mid-2027. The move concludes Tesla’s attempt to establish a major presence in the American pickup truck market with the distinctive metallic vehicle.

Shifting Factory Capacity to New Vehicles

Halting Cybertruck manufacturing will free up space in Tesla’s factory for other vehicle lines, with the company expected to direct those manufacturing resources toward producing more Cybercabs.

Musk originally revealed the Cybertruck in late 2019, showcasing an unconventional angular exterior that leaned more toward low-resolution video game aesthetics than traditional pickup practicality. At the unveil event, Musk promoted a stainless steel monocoque design, telling his audience that “the body and bed don’t do anything useful” on a normal truck.

Tesla initially targeted a starting price below $40,000 and projected massive sales figures for the model. The company had envisioned the bare-metal electric vehicle reaching widespread market adoption comparable to its popular Model 3 and Model Y lineups.
