Savannah Guthrie has issued a fresh appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, whom authorities believe was abducted in February.
A Heartfelt Appeal on Instagram
On Sunday, the Today show co-host posted a photograph of a past drawing created by her daughter that displayed an umbrella alongside the phrase: “I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.” She accompanied the image with a picture of her mother, stating in the caption that the childhood drawing reflects her inner feelings while the world continues to move forward and appear normal.
According to World News reported by The Guardian, Guthrie wrote that her family aches for answers and remains unable to move forward. She urged anyone with information to come forward, noting that her mother was a light and that the family wants to give her the dignity she deserves. She also confirmed that a financial reward remains available and thanked those who have shown kindness while asking the public to join in constant prayer.
Investigation and Ransom Demands
The recent Instagram post follows an earlier appeal made three months prior, where Guthrie urged someone to share details. Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her residence in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. Investigators previously found drops of blood on the porch, alongside DNA from a glove discovered over three miles away. Although the glove initially matched one seen on a surveillance suspect from the night of the disappearance, authorities later determined it belonged to a local restaurant worker rather than the abductor.
The FBI has offered an additional $100,000 reward for conclusive details and is searching for a man with an average build standing approximately 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in tall. Investigators released two ransom notes sent to a Tucson television station in July. The first note, received on February 2, stated that Nancy Guthrie was frightened but unharmed and demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency. A second note arrived four days later claiming she had passed away shortly after the abduction.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether Nancy Guthrie is alive, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
