Nintendo has officially designated November 1 as the inaugural annual Pikmin Day, revealing several updates across the franchise during a brief Direct presentation hosted by Shigeru Miyamoto, as reported by The Verge.
Pikmin 4 and Mobile Updates
Among the announcements were new features for Pikmin 4 on the Nintendo Switch 2. Players will be able to use the console’s built-in microphone to issue voice commands directly to Oatchi, the space dog. The game will also introduce a Dandori Academy mode that tests player skills through specialized challenges. Nintendo plans to run limited testing for the mode across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, complete with competitive leaderboards for players to compare their stats.
Mobile players will see additions to Pikmin Bloom through a new feature called Secret Caves. The update allows players to explore designated caves and fight enemies to collect treasure.
Hello! Pikmin Animated Series
Miyamoto also introduced the first installment of a new short animated series titled Hello! Pikmin, which follows the release of last year’s animation, Close to You. A second episode will launch tomorrow, followed by a third later in November. Starting in December, Nintendo will roll out one new short per month.
