Anthropic has introduced its new personal AI agent called Claude Duet, joining other tech labs in offering always-on automation that can complete tasks independently. Operating on its own virtual machine with a dedicated browser and connected app access, the system is designed to handle jobs even when users are away from their devices.

How to join the Claude Duet waiting list

According to Engadget, the new agent is currently in preview with availability restricted to Claude Pro and Max subscribers located in the United States. Users must first register for a waitlist available on the Anthropic website by providing their name, company, email address, smartphone operating system type, and a brief description of the work they plan to delegate. The device information is required because Anthropic provides standalone mobile applications for both Android and iOS.

Pricing and plan details

Anthropic plans to bundle Duet as a feature included within its $20 per month Pro tier and higher subscriptions. This pricing strategy differs from OpenAI, whose comparable Dot agents require a more expensive Pro tier starting at $100 per month alongside a $500 monthly option. At present, Anthropic is not extending Claude Duet access to Team and Enterprise clients.

During the preview phase, usage limits for Duet will be shared across all other Claude applications like Code and Cowork. To prevent users from exhausting their monthly message limits too quickly, Anthropic designed the agent to check connected accounts every few hours instead of continuously. Collecting user feedback regarding messaging frequency is a primary goal of this preview rollout.

What can you do with Claude Duet?

Anthropic promotes Duet as a proactive personal assistant that produces a daily briefing featuring action items derived from linked applications. Users can delegate tasks such as scheduling meetings, building web apps, and generating forecasts. Business owners might assign the agent to create sales and cashflow dashboards, while researchers could use it to monitor newly published studies.

“The Claude app waits for you to open a chat, and you work on something alongside Claude. Claude Duet comes to you,” Anthropic states, adding that the agent highlights daily priorities, accepts assignments via message, and notifies users upon completion or when approval is needed.

The effectiveness of Claude Duet relies heavily on data stored within the user’s Claude account memory and linked third-party applications. This reliance means individuals must weigh the convenience against potential privacy trade-offs before integrating the agent into their digital routines.
