Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell remains hospitalized following a neck injury sustained during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, though early medical indications for his recovery are encouraging.
Injury and Hospitalization
The 26-year-old player suffered the injury in the fourth quarter when he collided with tight end TJ Hockenson while attempting a tackle. Following the impact, he lay face down on the field and received immediate medical attention before being safely transported off the pitch on a stretcher.
In an official statement reported by BBC Sport, the Lions confirmed his current status. “Jack Campbell continues to rest and recover at a local hospital,” the team stated, adding, “Preliminary indications are positive and out of respect for Jack and his family we will not share any further information at this time.”
Team Career and Match Outcome
The match temporarily paused following the incident and concluded with a 19-15 victory for the Detroit Lions after play resumed. Campbell originally joined the franchise as the 18th overall selection in the 2023 draft and recently secured his long-term future with the team by signing a contract extension in May that runs through the 2030 season.
