Apple has kicked off its “Pro and Tell” event week by introducing a redesigned iPad Mini while preparing for additional hardware announcements across its Mac desktop and laptop lines. The week of product reveals will lead into a dedicated event on Wednesday, coming on the heels of several major hardware launches in recent months.

Upgraded iPad Mini Features OLED Display and A20 Chip

The newly introduced iPad Mini opens for pre-orders on Wednesday and is set to go on sale on November 6. As reported by CNET, pricing begins at $699 for the 128GB configuration, rising to $799 for 256GB and $999 for the 512GB version.

Updating the previous design released two years ago, the new tablet swaps the previous LCD for an 8.5-inch OLED screen. The device is lighter and thinner than the prior model, powered by an Apple A20 processor, and rated for IP67 dust and water resistance. Additional hardware updates include a relocated front-facing camera and an audio setup known as Acoustic Display, which delivers sound through the screen itself.

Anticipated iMac and Touchscreen MacBook Pro Lines

Further hardware announcements are anticipated throughout the week. An updated iMac equipped with an M6 chip is expected to arrive as the desktop’s first update since 2024. Apple is also anticipated to refresh its laptop lineup, potentially introducing touchscreen OLED options for the MacBook Pro.

Addressing the potential laptop upgrades, CNET Managing Editor Josh Goldman stated, “I’m expecting a 14-inch MacBook Pro to get updated with the M6 chip. I’m not sure the 16-inch will get that, since it usually doesn’t get a base M-series chip. My feeling is they’ll probably hold off on that until next year, when they can add the M6 Pro/Max chips.” Goldman noted that the expected 14-inch and 16-inch OLED touchscreen configurations will likely feature M5 Pro and M5 Max chips instead.

Broader Hardware and Smart Home Timeline

The week’s announcements build upon Apple’s autumn release schedule, which previously saw the debut of the iPhone 18 Pro series, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5, as well as the initial launch of the foldable iPhone Duo.

The company’s updated smart home schedule is set to follow shortly, with the HomePod Mini 2 debuting on Friday. The Apple HomeView display and Apple TV 4K are scheduled for release on November 13, preceding the arrival of the Home Collection line in December.
