Apple has officially launched the version 27.2 software updates across its product ecosystem, including iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The update introduces upgrades to Siri AI, privacy settings, and visual branding across compatible devices.
Enhanced Siri AI Features and Privacy Controls
The iOS 27.2 release focuses heavily on expanding Siri AI capabilities. Siri now includes a contextual memory feature that allows the virtual assistant to recall past conversations and reference them during user interactions. Additionally, Siri can access broader data sources to deliver responses, including voicemails and attachments within Messages.
To grant users greater control over their data, Apple introduced an Excluded Apps setting. This feature enables users to choose which applications Siri, Search, and system suggestions are prevented from accessing. Siri AI has also expanded support to five additional languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. However, Siri AI remains unavailable in mainland China and Europe. Compatibility for Siri AI includes the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models and later.
App Upgrades and Upcoming Hardware Hints
Additional features in iOS 27.2 include context-aware suggestions within Messages, such as automatically turning event invitations into calendar entries. The update brings support for SynthID watermarking in Photos, user profiles in the Apple TV application, updated Apple Music branding, and the arrival of Apple Pencil support on the foldable iPhone Duo.
Similar Siri AI upgrades, the refreshed Music icon, and unspecified bug fixes were also delivered to macOS Golden Gate 27.2, watchOS, and visionOS 27.2. As reported by Ars Technica, beta builds of macOS 27.2 contain references to gesture recognition in applications such as Photos, Notes, and Safari. These references point toward unconfirmed touch support for an upcoming MacBook Pro refresh, which could be detailed during a scheduled public briefing on Wednesday.
