The Irish government has warned against a likely coordinated campaign of disruption following a series of bomb threats targeting European flights and local media organisations.
Government Response and Investigation
In an official statement, authorities described the morning threats against domestic media organisations as extremely serious. The government noted that hoax threats create fear, distress, and disruption while serving no positive purpose, though the responsible parties remain unidentified.
The statement highlighted that these incidents follow continuous disruptions to aviation across Europe caused by similar warnings, pointing to an apparent coordinated effort. The Gardaí are collaborating with the Defence Forces along with cyber and aviation authorities to identify the culprits and hold them accountable.
Irish security forces are maintaining constant communication with European security counterparts. Authorities stated that the primary focus remains public safety despite the unavoidable disruptions, noting that the Gardaí had already anticipated such risks while preparing for EU Presidency events and are currently executing the appropriate response protocols.
