Google Find Hub Adds Separation Alerts for Trackers

Google has begun rolling out a new “Notify when left behind” feature for its Find Hub network, which sends an alert if you leave a location tracker or an attached item behind. Rival companies Apple and Samsung have offered similar separation alerts for years on their respective networks to help users retrieve forgotten items before getting too far away.

How the New Separation Alerts Work

According to reporting by 9to5Google, Android users can access the feature by opening the Find Hub app, selecting a tag from the device list, and tapping the settings gear icon. Users will find a new section on the tracker’s page where they can toggle on the notification option for that specific item. Activating the setting triggers an alert from the Find Hub network if the user moves a sufficient distance away from the tracker, provided the item has not been left at a designated Home address saved in Google Maps.

The update currently appears to be active in the United States and selected regions of Europe. The functionality also supports trackers from multiple brands, as testing showed compatibility with both Moto and Chipolo devices linked to Android smartphones.
