Adobe Adds Licensed Music to Premiere Mobile App

Adobe is partnering with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to integrate a library of licensed music clips into the Premiere mobile video editing app. Although specific musicians have not yet been revealed, Adobe stated that the update will feature popular songs from leading artists to help users quickly join current trends.

Partnership Details and Features

Universal Music Group’s Bryan Stone stated in the announcement that bringing licensed music from their artists into the application gives creators new methods to build stories around beloved songs while expanding the reach for artists and songwriters.

According to Adobe, the upcoming feature will allow users to add up to 60 seconds of a popular track directly to their videos. Users can also browse, search, and preview trending music by artist or track, filter options by genre and duration, bookmark favorites, and explore popular music through label-featured collections.

Additionally, the update provides access to customizable templates already paired with music to accelerate the editing process. Creators will also be able to export finished videos within Premiere mobile and publish them directly to licensed social platforms.

Current App Capabilities and Competition

Both the Premiere Pro desktop application and Premiere mobile currently feature a built-in library of royalty-free music, though licensed audio previously required manual importation. The upcoming update seeks to simplify the incorporation of recognizable music into edits and help Adobe compete with rival video editors like CapCut.
