Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft (2026) Review

Amazon has launched its latest generation of e-readers, featuring the new Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft. Both devices are available in base plastic versions with 16 GB of storage alongside aluminum-backed Signature Editions boasting 32 GB of storage and additional features.

Accessories and New Features

The standout addition to the lineup is the Kindle Page Turn Cover, priced at $80, which introduces page-turn buttons to the ecosystem. This accessory is exclusively compatible with the new Signature Editions of the Paperwhite and Colorsoft. Color choice also distinguishes the Signature Editions from the base models, offering exclusive device colors for the 7-inch e-readers. Although the pricing matches the 2024 editions, Amazon previously raised those prices in August.

For prospective buyers who do not yet own a Kindle, the latest Paperwhite remains a strong choice for those not seeking a color screen. The inclusion of a warm light provides a significant advantage for nighttime reading, a feature restricted to these two newest models in the Kindle lineup.

The Base Lineup Specifications

The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft share several core specifications, including a 7-inch screen and a front light equipped with adjustable brightness and warmth. Base models include 16 GB of storage. Both devices feature a flush-front screen design and a slightly smaller body compared to the 2024 Paperwhite and 2025 Colorsoft.
