Netflix is developing a live-action series based on the battle royale game PUBG, with filmmaker and actor Donald Glover leading the project.
Creative Leadership and Production Team
According to Netflix, Glover will star in, write, direct, and executive produce the series. He will receive assistance from his frequent collaborator and sibling, Stephen Glover.
The game’s minimal narrative provides Glover with significant creative freedom when adapting the source material. PUBG features a premise where 100 individuals compete by searching for equipment and attempting to eliminate each other. Hints within the game suggest the setting is a bloodsport tournament designed to entertain elite spectators, potentially drawing comparisons to projects like Squid Game or The Hunger Games.
Project Status and Additional Adaptations
Apart from Glover’s involvement, Netflix has not yet revealed any additional casting information or a specific release window. The streaming platform has several other video game adaptations in development, including a live-action series based on Assassin’s Creed and a feature-length film based on Gears of War.
