Windows 11 Tests Xbox Mode Shortcuts and Search Updates

Microsoft has released new preview updates for Windows 11, introducing quick settings shortcuts during Xbox gaming mode alongside comprehensive upgrades to the operating system’s search functionality.

Xbox Quick Settings and Advanced Search Features

As reported by The Verge, the new Xbox shortcuts allow users to manage Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and power preferences directly without needing to exit gaming mode. Meanwhile, the enhanced search bar enables users to filter queries specifically by files, actions, or web findings, as well as execute system adjustments such as altering display brightness or volume levels directly from the query box.

The updated search functionality also connects with paired smartphones to execute tasks including placing phone calls. In addition, search results display expanded details such as file authors and last modification timestamps, along with interactive visual data for weather forecasts and stock market prices. Microsoft has also added inline thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons to search outcomes, allowing users to submit feedback that helps train the system over time.

These features are now accessible to participants in the Windows Insider program via Beta Build 26220.9836 and Experimental Build 26340.9843.
