A 35-year-old man has been charged under the Explosives Act and Firearms Order following police searches at properties in Belfast.

Charges and Court Appearance

The suspect faces multiple charges, including two counts of possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances and possessing a prohibited weapon capable of discharging electricity or noxious gas. The Police Service of Northern Ireland stated that the accused is scheduled to appear before Belfast magistrates court on Monday.

Police Searches and Public Safety

The legal action stems from searches conducted by officers at properties located in the Shankill Road and Edwina Street areas of north Belfast on Friday and Saturday. Local residents who had been evacuated as a precautionary measure returned to their homes after the conclusion of the public safety operation, which was carried out in coordination with ammunition technical officers.
