Samsung P9 MicroSD Express Cards Discounted Under $50

Samsung’s high-speed P9 MicroSD Express cards have received notable price cuts at major online retailers, making expanded storage for modern handheld consoles significantly more affordable. The 256GB version of the drive is currently available for $47.99 at Amazon and B&H Photo, down from its usual price of roughly $80, as reported by The Verge.

Discount Details and Storage Needs

Alongside the entry-level model, the higher-capacity 512GB variant has been discounted to $99 across the same storefronts. The larger card typically sells for anywhere between $150 and $200. The Verge highlights that despite the current sales, both pricing figures remain slightly higher than their initial retail launch prices, a shift likely caused by ongoing memory shortages in the industry.

The discounted memory cards arrive at a critical time for Nintendo Switch 2 owners looking to expand their storage space. First-party releases on the system generally range between 10GB and 30GB in file size; for instance, the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time requires 27GB. Major third-party titles demand even higher storage footprints, exemplified by Cyberpunk 2077 at 60GB.

Expanding Device Support

While the Switch 2 was previously one of the few portable systems capable of utilizing the enhanced speeds of the MicroSD Express format, support for the standard is broadening. The recently released Asus ROG Ally X20 has also introduced MicroSD Express functionality, giving gamers an alternative platform to utilize these high-speed memory cards. Although expensive, the Windows 11-based handheld offers broad versatility across PC gaming libraries.
