Many Map cards do not have the customer’s actual name on them, instead coming with a message like “Happy Holidays” or “Happy Birthday.” Customers will not need to show identification when using these cards, so it’s recommended that the user set up a 4 digit PIN for security purposes (although the customer will still sign their name on the receipt).

Customers trying to use a Map prepaid card at a gas station will need to prepay for their purchase inside with a cashier. An e-mail address is not required to set up a Map debit card, but it is recommended in case the customer ever needs to reset the password on their account.

Can customers spend more than the balance on a Map prepaid card?

Map prepaid cards can only be used for the amount that’s remaining on the card. The majority of retailers use a “pre-authorization” to ensure that funds are available for purchase. If a customer tries to make a purchase on a Map card that’s more than the available amount, the purchase will be declined.

SVM Reward Card

• Customers who have a SVM prepaid card can log in to check the balance on their card by entering the first 6 digits of their card number
• SVM is one of the largest providers of prepaid cards, offering cards from American Express, Visa, and Discover that can be used specifically at gas stations or as a general payment option in retail stores
• Custom gift card orders from SVM that are valued at $150 or less will ship First Class Mail for the cost of $2.95 per order

Customers who have reported a SVM card lost or stolen will need to mail in an affidavit along with a form that’s been signed by a licensed notary public. These requests will be processed by SVM within 5 to 7 business days, and make take up to 30 days for credits to be approved.

Membership Rewards Card Fees

• American Express Membership Rewards Program gives the most loyal AmEx customers the chance to rack up points to spend on great rewards
• To earn AmEx Membership Rewards points, customers will need to use their AmEx card at an eligible location. Customers usually earn one point for every one dollar charged. Customers must then pay the amount due on their account statement on time to earn the points

American Express does have the right to change Membership Rewards program terms at any time, like changing the number of points customer earn for spending, changing the number of points that is required to get a certain reward, imposing different caps or fees on earning (or using) points, and increasing annual program fees.

Membership Rewards Card Fees

• Points can be used for travel (like an Air BnB gift card or a hotel stay at a resort, including Aria in Las Vegas), for products (like a GoPro camera, Taylormade golf clubs, Samsonite luggage, or an Apple Watch), or for entertainment like an AMC or Cinemark gift card
• Any returns or credits will not reduce a rewards count, but will just take away the number of points that were initially earned

Avis AMEXMR

• American Express Rewards Members customers can use their AmEx points to rent a car from Avis and pay nothing out of pocket
• A maximum of 3 certificates may be applied to one Avis rental, a maximum value of $400
• Renters under the age of 25 can rent an Avis car with American Express rewards points, but they may need to pay out of pocket insurance charges

To use Avis AMEXMR rewards points to rent a car from Avis, customers just need to check rates and availability first, then enter the date, time and location they’re looking to rent to see what vehicles are eligible and how much they’ll cost. Next, Avis renters just need to complete the “American Express Membership Rewards” redemption process to get their Avis rental certificate.

How to cancel an Avis reservation when it was paid for with AmEx points

To change or even cancel an existing Avis reservation that was made with American Express rewards points, customers will need to enter their last name and the confirmation number they received at the time of booking. Any Avis cancellation that is being made within 48 hours of car pickup time will need to be made over the phone. When the reservation is canceled by Avis, the points will be returned to the American Express rewards account within 5 business days.
