Customers who purchased protein products manufactured by the Iovate company between 2011 and 2015 may be eligible to receive some free money thanks to a class action lawsuit against Iovate. This class action lawsuit alleges that Iovate Inc. practiced what’s known as “protein spiking” between March of 2011 and November of 2015. In short, Iovate is accused of adding amino acids, creatine, and other non-protein ingredients to their products. These ingredients falsely showed up as proteins in Iovate’s products.
Iovate denies that they did anything illegal, but they have agreed to pay a $2.5 million settlement in this case. The settlement in the class action suit against Iovate is $10 for every eligible product purchased, with a cap of $300 per household with receipts, and $50 per household for claims submitted without receipts.
The final deadline to submit a claim in the Iovate class action suit is Monday, February 8, 2016. A final court hearing will be held on April 4, 2016. Settlement checks from Iovate will be mailed out to eligible claimants within 21 days of the approval hearing.
Iovate Health Services was founded in 1995 as a direct to consumer mail order business that only offered three products. Since then, Iovate has grown to a family of six global brands with products being shipped across the world every day.
